The project intercepts the City's effluent (treated sewer) discharge
line to produce power that will be fed back into the BC Hydro grid under
the utility's Net Metering program, prior to the effluent being
discharged into the Peace River.
The micro-hydro station has been
generating power since fall of 2015, enough to power about 70 homes.
The revenue generated helps to offset the cost of pumping water out of
the valley to homes and businesses, the city's biggest electricity cost.
